Frequently Asked Questions!

Speed Dating is great for those of us who lead busy lives, don't have much time and want to meet new people in a fun, safe environment. It's an opportunity to meet and date 18 people of a similar age who are looking for the same thing that you are weather that's a serious relationship or someone to hang out with for a while. You will date each person for three minutes, giving you the opportunity to decide if you may want to see that person again.

Three minutes

Three minutes is the perfect amount of time - short enough to leave your date wanting more if they are interested and not too long if the other person is not to your taste. Three minutes per date also enables you to meet 18 dates in one night without getting too tired.

Why do I need to buy a ticket in advance?

So that the event is a success for you we need to ensure an even balance of men and women and that the venue is not over-full.

What happens when I arrive at the venue?

When you arrive you will be welcomed, registered and given a personalised numbered name badge, your will be made to feel comfortable. When everyone has arrived we will make a short introductory welcoming speech to ensure all attending have a great time.

What happens next?

After the welcome speech those with badge member one will start at table number one, those with badge number two at table two and so on. After three minutes we ring a bell; the ladies stay seated and the guys will move round one table. This continues (with a couple of ten minute breaks) until you have met everyone.

What if I like someone?

During the evening, simply enter a tick on your dating sheet in the "yes" or "friendship" column that corresponds to the person you like to indicate you may want to see that person again. Once you have met everyone by around 9.45pm you are welcome to stay on and mingle further, grab a drink or a coffee downstairs in the bar

How will I know if I get any matches?

At the end of the evening make sure you hand your top copy of your score sheet back to your hosts and emails will be sent out out letting you know with whom you have matched. You are likely to be pleasantly surprised as to how many matches you will get.

I don't have an email address, can I still join in?

Yes. We can cater for everyone whether you have an email address or not. Simply use your mobile number in place of an email address. We can then keep you up to date with text messages after an event.

Do people come on their own?

About a third do - we make a point of ensuring you are comfortable. If you do come alone, don't be afraid before to chat to other daters before the dating starts. Everyone will be very friendly and other people who are alone will welcome you chatting to them too.

How long does each event last?

We do our best to keep the event running to schedule which means the event will last around two hours including a couple of ten minute breaks. Generally an event will start at 7.45pm and finish between 9.45pm and 10pm.
